Hugo Basclain Accelerates Through The Burnout With "HIT THE WALL"

Released on February 27th, Sydney-born, RnB-influenced, soulful pop singer-songwriter Hugo Basclain returns with HIT THE WALL,” the second single from his forthcoming debut album. The high-voltage track is a bright, alt-pop piece that captures the emotional whiplash of a generation that never stops moving. It is the perfect sonic mixture of grungy, raw elements and free-flowing melodic moments of release.

This musical dichotomy represents the inner turmoil between burnout and the pressure to move forward. The record battles with overstimulation and the quiet panic of pushing beyond one's limits.

Rather than succumb to the pressure, Basclain accelerates, ultimately deciding that motion trumps paralysis. After all, "everything is temporary," so he might as well do what he loves and pray that he ends up alright.

The pre-chorus is painfully relatable, featuring lyrics like,

“I need a vacation, getting real tired of the earth rotating.”

We live in a fast-paced society where it is easy to fear that taking a breather will set you back. Rather than getting stuck in an existential crisis, Basclain plows on—both lyrically and sonically—with euphoric guitars and sharp, driving rhythms. The result is a sound that feels both exhilarating and slightly unhinged.

“HIT THE WALL” is a track about running on empty and calling it survival. Through his music, Basclain covers himself in love and bathes in the light he yearns for on the chorus. His voice delivers a serene energy that is sure to leave listeners wanting to press replay.
